It gives me a great pleasure to tell you a little about my history, and how I achieved my dream career . My name is Waleed El-Rawy. I am an Egyptian engineer, and although I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Alexandria, my passion has always been for the amazing history and artefacts of Egypt.

My story begins 12 years ago when I first began working for my father in the magical city of Luxor, one of the most famous touristic locations in all of Egypt, and the home of the Valley of the Kings and Queens, the legendary tomb of Tutankhamun, and many other magnificent monuments and temples .

I spent my days roaming through these fabulous temples in awe of their grandeur and ancient legends, always wondering how these people, who were my ancestors, had the intelligence and skill to create such wonders.

Although I was amazed by these great things around me, I became accustomed to their beauty. It was not until I began working in the tourism field, that I realized the impact these ancient stones had upon the people of the world. I felt it was my duty to find out all I could about the secrets of my ancestors, the great Pharaohs of Egypt, and how they created their history...A history filled with art, culture, beauty and mystery that lasted for over 7000 years.

I spent every spare moment in my father's shop meeting interesting people from all over the world. Though all were from differing cultures and mentalities, they were united in their love and admiration for Egypt and its people. I realized then that the real secret of our past lies in the Egyptian people themselves, and that the skills of 7000 years ago are still alive in the Egyptian artisans of today.

From my work in Luxor I gained knowledge of very special sources for these crafts. I traveled throughout Egypt, gathering the finest handmade pieces, all of which are crafted using the same degree of skill and technique as their great ancestors did before them.

I have made these unique pieces available online through QueenEgypt.com, so that people from all over the world can experience a part of our magical past and have the opportunity to acquire that special gift for a loved one, for a friend or just a little piece of history to pass on to their grandchildren...and hopefully inspire the next generation.

This is my dream, to show that the wonder of ancient Egypt has lived on in the same perfect craftsmanship created today, as our forefather created 7000 years ago.
